Where to go with children in Tallinn

Tallinn and its neighbouring regions offer a number of leisure activities for families with children. Most of the local restaurants and cafés have also considered the needs of the youngest members of the family by providing their customers high chairs, children’s menus and, in some places, changing tables and children’s play corners. All the largest shopping centres have a mother and child room and play corners for children to enjoy.

The Tallinn Zoo is a perfect place for a whole day visit with the entire family. At the Children’s Zoo open in summer, children can get to know and feed different pets and take a closer look at the adorable dwarf goats. The private arbours and picnic grounds of the zoo are perfect for family picnics.

Close to the zoo you will find the Estonian Open Air Museum offering you the chance to take a look at what Estonian farm life was like in the 18^th till the 20^th century. Various workshops enable visitors to test their skills in traditional farm jobs and do some handiwork.

At the very heart of the Old Town you will find the Estonian State Puppet and Youth Theatre where you can either enjoy fun plays or visit the Museum of Puppet Arts. Tallinn is also the hometown of the Estonian Children’s Museum displaying two floors full of toys originating from the Middle Ages till the modern times and the Miia Milla Manda museum where no child is ever bored. For all sweet-tooths, Kalev Marzipan Museum is the ideal place to visit.

There is also a lot to see and discover at the Science Centre AHHAA located on the Vabaduse Square.

In summer, the best place for enjoying recreational activities outside of Tallinn is at the Vembu-Tembumaa amusement park located 25 km from Tallinn, which offers a wide range of fun attractions for the entire family, including go-carts, ATV trails and pools.
