The concept of MEKK (Modern Estonian Cuisine) is unique, filled with pleasant discoveries and interesting for Estonians and foreign visitors alike. We are the first to be considered the dignified initiators of modern Estonian cuisine traditions offering a full concept as we are currently seen as the most active representatives of the new wave of Estonian cuisine.

The only way to define Estonian cuisine is by understanding that the Estoniansthemselves are a manifestation of a combination of all the best features of the nations with whom they have lived side by side throughout the centuries. The calmness of the Swedes, the common sense of the Danes, the purposefulness of the Germans and the self-trust of the Russians are hidden inside each and every Estonian. The Estonian cuisine has also adopted the best features of other nation’s cuisines and is thus very varied itself.

The chef of the restaurant is dedicated to putting together such a menu for MEKK, which would clearly represent the essence of modern Estonian cuisine. The nature of the dishes served is defined by the use of cooking techniques characteristic to Estonian cuisine, accompanied by nuances learned in other parts of the world. The result of all of theaforementioned components is what we like to call Modern Estonian Cuisine (or Moodne Eesti KöögiKunst or MEKK in Estonian) in its best form. Full of contrasts but calm and harmonious by nature – just as the Estonian people.

The dishes are fully cooked on the spot. We pickle, salt, smoke and brew the food ourselves and use only the raw produce that has not been pre-processed and try to season the dishes ourselves as much as possible. MEKK is very proud of its home-made black bread and pastry products, which are dearly loved by our customers.

At the restaurant, the guests will be welcomed by the chef and the Food and Beverage Manager who are always close-by and happy to assist with anything. Our customer service personnel’s long-time experience in serving international guests and coping with various catering formats gives us reason to believe that all the events planned at our restaurant will progress smoothly. Our employees are empathetic and take very good care of our guests!
