Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival
Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival, or in native Estonian – PÖFF – is one of the largest and most distinctive film events in Northern Europe and belongs to the 50 leading film festivals of the world. The festival embraces a cluster of events, accommodating three full-blown sub-festivals (Animated Dreams, Just Film, Sleepwalkers) as well as international industry events bringing together filmmakers from Americas and EurAsia.
The festival includes three international competition programmes (EurAsia, Tridens Herring, and North-American indie films), a traditional film festival programme with documentaries and feature films as well as programmes for short films, retrospectives and film related special events (concerts, exhibitions, talks and more).
Black Nights Film Festival main programme (15th Nov 2013 – 1st Dec 2013) - International competition programme EurAsia and Tridens Baltic feature film competition. Informative side programmes include fiction and documentary features from previous 2 years, retrospective of a filmmaker, genre or studio, and focus on a country.
Animation Film Festival Animated Dreams (27th Nov - 1st Dec) - Competition of short animations from previous 2 years. Additional non-competitive programmes include a retrospective of a filmmaker and focus on a country.
Children and Youth Film Festival Just Film (15th – 24th November) - Competition of children's films and youth films. Non-competitive special programmes.
Student and Short Film Festival Sleepwalkers (19th – 23rd November) - Four competitions of selected student and short films from previous 2 years, a retrospective of a noted film school, special programmes.
Industry@Tallinn (25th – 29th November) - a set of Industry oriented events during Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival organized by both the Black Nights festival and Baltic Event.
