Hotel Bern

A host with an individual and attentive approach!

Excellent Hotel would recommend every time

Just returned from a 4 day break to Tallinn and cannot emphasise (UK Spelling) how glad i was that we picked the Hotel Bern to stay in, firstly the weather was cold and I mean cold with -18 during the day dropping to -21 at night however never in the hotel did I feel chilly, the bedroom was not the biggest but its a place to sleep in only and the queen size bed was ultra comfortable with the advantage of split bedding that meant no fighting over the quilt!! the bathroom was very neat and a wet room which does take getting use too if you've never used one but with underfloor heating never stayed wet for long.
Staff were always very pleasant and helpful giving the impression that nothing was too much trouble and always ready with recommendations and maps taking the time out to show your where everything is, breakfast was really nice good selection of fruit, cereals and pastries with cold meat/cheese, fresh bread with a heated option of scrambled egg and pork balls, plenty of juices with coffee and tea making facilities. personally I cannot see how other reviewers were less than complimentary about the breakfast buffet?
The only issue that I commented to the Hotel was that it would have been nice to have had the facility within the room to make a tea/coffee when returning the the hotel at night, I have seen comments by the hotel that guests can ask for this however during the coldest winter months I believe this should be supplied automatically. Hotel location is perfect being close enough to both the "Old" and New town to enjoys the facility's that both have to offer.
I would recommend this hotel to everyone visiting Tallinn and am awaiting the Easyjet flight schedules for Winter 2011 to return in December to visit the Christmas markets.
One thing to warn fellow visitors about is the state of the pavements during the winter months, the snow doesn't get cleared and this leads up to 3/4 inches of ice on top when the seriously cold weather sets in, grit is put down but you need boots with decent tread to stop and slips/falls even then you see people taking the odd tumble (locals included).
